Educational and ideological outline
“…Not by might, nor by power, but by My spirit, says the Lord of hosts”
The Magen Shaul mechina in Nokdim was established 21 years ago, and to date boasts over 2000 graduates, spread throughout the country from Eilat in the south to Kiryat Shmonah in the north.
The mechina program is tailored to two groups – 12th grade graduates and army graduates - and educates towards a love of the People of Israel, love of Torah, and love of the land.
Beit Midrash study is oriented towards clarifying different values and their order of priorities.
In keeping with the emphasis of Rabbi Kook ztz”l on studying works of Jewish philosophy and faith, a considerable portion of the study program is devoted to spiritual and religious questions pertaining to the individual and to the generation as a whole. Freedom of choice is central to beit midrash experience, and is inherent to the program’s success. Our full and complete confidence in the ability of each and every student to discover and expose his positive essence is fundamental to our educational approach.
The mechina aims to prepare its students for meaningful and high-quality military service. We view IDF service not only as an obligation but also as a great privilege and the fulfilment of a mitzvah from the Torah. Following centuries of exile, the Jewish People, finally free in its own land, has an army whose role is to protect the nation and every Jew wherever he may be.
Army graduates program
The program is open to army graduates - whether they previously studied at Magen Shaul, at another mechina, or in some other framework – seeking an additional period of beit midrash study before embarking on the next stage of their lives. Participants have the option of simultaneous academic studies via Herzog College or Machon Lev (Jerusalem College of Technology). Army graduates who are married can also join the program, and are provided with living quarters and a stipend.Contact us for more details
